I&#039;m not a virtual assistant, but I do perform the bulk of my work virtually. This is an interesting topic for me, because up until last year I didn&#039;t have many local clients. I actually preferred it that way, because I had enough non-local people wanting me to travel to their offices that I feared local folks would be even more eager to try to get me to on-site meetings or even work on-site. Since part of my purpose of my leaving paralegal life was to work from home, the idea of traveling into the city every day doesn&#039;t appeal to me. I do happen to have a few local clients now, although I didn&#039;t specifically market myself locally -- most of them I met on Twitter or LinkedIn, ironically enough. It has been more of a challenge than working with people across the country, in a few cases, but for the most part it is working out well.

For you, I think local marketing makes a lot of sense. I hope you have a lot of success with it!
